Each year the park hosts a commemorative Mass inside the Tumacácori mission church in conjunction with Tubac Presidio State Historic Park’s annual Anza Day celebration.
Participants are encouraged to wear historical costumes appropriate to the early 1800s.
The Mass, and the State Park’s reenactment horseback ride which follows, commemorate the expedition led by Tubac Presidio Captain Juan Bautista de Anza which left Tubac in October of 1775 to establish a presidio and community on the San Francisco Bay in Alta California.
